Data Zip Folders for Currents and Winds:
loc.yyyyMM.DD.zip
Where: loc is:
- cc for : Corpus Christi Bay
- csa for : San Antonio and Copano Bays
- gv for : Galveston Bay
- mag for : Matagorda Bay
- sab for : Sabine Lake
and
yyyyMM.DD is "YearMonth(01 to 12)"."Day"
Example: mag.201901.13.zip is the file for Matagorda Bay for January 13.
In each zip folder are 3 files:
-
loc.yyyyMM.DD.wnd - Wind input for GNOME
-
locTxb.yyyyMM.DD.cur - Currents input for GNOME
- locNotes....txt - A text file that gives the units of the data and typically has the time range of the winds.
The example above would contain the files:
magNotes.201901.13.txt mag.201901.13.wnd magTxb.201901.13.cur
The Currents File is in ptCur format
which is used for Finite Element models such as
TxBlend. The file covers a 5-day period with the 1st day being previous to the files labeled date. So mag.201901.13 goes from midnight Jan.12 thru Jan.16.
The Wind file goes two days into the future (ending Jan.14 in the example), but may have gaps, hence the Notes text file gives the actual range of the winds, or displays any error messages.
