Bolivar Roads (Transect from NE Pelican Island to Port Bolivar) Galveston Bay Freshwater Inflow Survey, May 23 - 24, 2001 Velocity data was measured in real-time with an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) The velocity data presented below was chosen from four locations along each transect: 1) The center (Ctr), at the center of a deep area off Point Bolivar. This location is west of the North East Bank (NE) location - site #3 - and east of the Houston Ship channel location - site #2; 2) The Houston Ship Channel (HSC), at the center of the Houston Ship Channel; 3) The North East Bank (NE), at the center of the deep area off the NorthEast (left) Bank - near Point Bolivar; 4) The Texas City Ship Channel (TxSC), at the center and deepest area of the Texas City Ship Channel off the SouthWest Bank (right bank), near Pelican Island. Flow magnitude and direction are displayed for each transect location (Ctr, HSC, NE, and TxSC) at several depths: V_.15 = flow magnitude and direction at 15% of the total depth below the surface. V_.30 = flow magnitude and direction at 3/10 of the total depth below the surface. V_.50 = flow magnitude and direction at 1/2 of the total depth below the surface. V_.70 = flow magnitude and direction at 7/10 of the total depth below the surface. V_.90 = flow magnitude and direction at 9/10 of the total depth below the surface. Date = yymmdd, Time = hhmm, TDep = total depth in feet at one location (Ctr, HSC, NE, or TxSC) along the transect, Tot.Flow = total flow over the entire transect in cubic feet per second.
